About the Department

The Department of Hospitality and Tourism at Kinango Technical and Vocational College (KTVC) prepares students for dynamic, rewarding careers in Kenya's thriving hospitality, tourism and food service industries. Situated in Kwale County — one of Kenya's premier coastal tourism destinations home to Diani Beach, Shimba Hills and world-class beach resorts — our graduates step directly into an industry that is on their doorstep.

All programmes are delivered under the national Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) framework, accredited by the Curriculum Development, Assessment and Certification Council (CDACC) and regulated by the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA). Students track their academic records through the Intellimis Academic Portal.

The department offers 4 CBET programmes covering Hospitality Management, Food and Beverage Service, Catering and Accommodation, and Hotel and Restaurant Management. Training combines classroom theory with intensive practical sessions in fully equipped training kitchens, restaurant service labs and front-office simulation rooms — giving graduates the hands-on industry competencies that employers demand.
